Window Frosting/Etching

Window etching or sandblasting is the process of obscuring clear glass. What a lot of people don’t realise is that this process can be mimicked after a glass pane has been installed. This is achieved by using a specific vinyl which can be applied to the glass which we call frosted/etch vinyl. There are many different finishes of this vinyl from standard silver etch to dusted and speckled plus many more each with their own opacity levels.

The photo shown here is a recent project we completed for a cottage in Tideswell, a little village in High Peak, Derbyshire. They wanted to create a little more privacy from the passers by on the footpath but with the additional benefit of letting them know that the cottage was a holiday let. We did this by cutting away the design detail using our in-house plotting machine prior to installation. Our customer was extremely happy with the final result and recommended us to their neighbour for which we completed the below design. We copied the design from an internal wall tile they had in their cottage and applied the design to the rear of the frosted etch with a white vinyl.
